At Fig Tree Retro Studio, we care about minimising our impact on the environment, so these small steps are just a few we have adopted.
PROPERTY
Reforestation!
Thanks to ReForest Now based in Mullumbimby, NSW, the Fig Tree Retro Studio grounds are 1000 more trees richer! A wide variety of rainforest trees were planted on the property in November 2022.
SOLAR PANELS
The entire 6 acre property is powered by a 10kw solar system.
BUILDING STRUCTURE
The building itself has a mixture of zinc, recycled timber, and all its doors, windows, etc. were bought secondhand from a local recyclable shop.

COMPOST FOOD SCRAPES
Guests are encouraged to compost their veggie and fruit scrapes and a compost bin is provided.
RECYCLE BIN
Guests are also provided with a recycle bin for their plastics, glasses, papers, etc.
LIGHT GLOBES
All globes in the studio are LED for better efficiency.
RAIN WATER
The studio itself utilises rainwater from a nearby tank. Rain water is the property's main water supply.
GREYWATER
The studio sits on a 6 acre organic property – we have various fruit trees and veggie plants on the property and we do not use chemicals on them and utilise greywater at all times to nourish them.
PRODUCTS
Lastly, we bulk buy various items such a toilet paper (Who Gives A Crap) and cleaning products (Earth’s Choice) – we use and offer these items to our guests for their use.
Further, we also make available to guests a range of Sukin products, which is cruelty free, vegan, and are proud sponsors of Greening Australia.
